The first step in the process is to gather and analyze information and perform all the work necessary prior to actually designing the building. During this time we help you formulate a detailed “program” which defines your needs and objectives: function, size and relationship between spaces, character and image, and a host of other considerations that affect how you will use the final space. We analyze your site and determine the best placement of the building and spaces within to capture views and sunlight. During this stage we also establish the construction scope, budget and schedule.
The most important tool in design development is the interaction between the client, other stakeholders and the Project Architect. We emphasize the need for good communication with our clients and therefore encourage frequent face-to-face meetings with people that will be using the building in order to determine the needs, outline process/timelines and implement the work. The early stages are particularly characterized by an increase in client participation. This is the point when fundamental choices are made about the direction and character of the project. Client involvement during critical early design stages is imperative for a successful outcome to the project.
We will depend on you to communicate your design preferences, functional requirements, and budget. Your timely response to questions and design submissions will help keep the project on track. It is also important for you to raise any concerns you have as the project proceeds, so they can be addressed in the earliest stages when the costs for such changes is less. Working in partnership with us, will help ensure the best possible outcome for your project.
